The Beachwalk Wastewater Emergency Bypass project has been completed. The emergency project was a top priority of the city administration, and the administration thanks the residents for their patience during the construction period. The city is confident there will be no repeat of the major spill that occurred in March 2006 due to the aging infrastructure in the Waikiki and Ala Wai area.
The city is now installing an underground wastewater force main from Moiliili to Ala Moana Park. That will result in the removal of temporary above ground piping on the mauka side of the Ala Wai Canal and at the entrance to Ala Moana Beach Park. This new force main will also allow the removal of the temporary wastewater pipe in the Ala Wai Canal The temporary piping was part of the emergency project.
We are setting up this new website and will provide updated information to keep you informed of the progress on this project.
